I used to want to work in the nonprofit space. Now, I do that in my (limited) free time, and I’m happy to be in this industry. It’s helping me expand my skill set in ways I never expected while also allowing me to grow professionally.
As a young professional, I never envisioned a career in the power industry, but my journey at HICO America has been one of growth and opportunity. I started as an executive assistant to one of the founding members of our North American offices. Over time, I wanted to contribute on a larger scale. Thanks to HICO’s leadership—people who have spent their careers in this industry yet embrace fresh perspectives—I felt empowered to step into a role where I could make a greater impact.
Like many, I’ve battled imposter syndrome, but a defining moment came last May at IEEE T&D. I was responsible for planning and executing HICO’s exhibition, National Sales Meeting & Training, and Welcome Reception. Despite moments of self-doubt, leading these events successfully became a highlight of my career and solidified my vision for my future at HICO. Now, when I question myself, I remind myself—I’ve done it before, so why not again?
Of course, this is my experience, and I know not everyone feels the same way. But HICO’s openness to new ideas has allowed me to grow in ways I never anticipated. While this industry can be slow to change, I’ve seen firsthand how leadership that values both tradition and innovation creates real progress. More importantly, I’ve seen how strong male leadership can be true allies to young women in this field, championing new voices and encouraging professional growth.
Outside of work, my photography business fuels my creative side and brings a different perspective to my role. The balance between my artistic and professional worlds helps me bring fresh ideas to our marketing efforts. Seeing my creativity reflected in HICO’s events, branding, and campaigns motivates me to keep pushing forward.
Learning from executives who not only preach leadership but live it, has shaped my growth. Their support has given me the confidence to continue challenging myself, and I look forward to bringing fresh perspectives to an evolving industry.
