Endesa is committed to advancing the digitalisation of Barcelona's electricity infrastructure, and the City Plan outlines key initiatives to achieve this goal.
The plan includes the renovation of underground high-voltage wiring, expansion of transformer centres in the medium-voltage grid, and the installation of remote control systems and sensors to improve data availability and grid management.
Automation plays a significant role in the plan, with remote control systems enabling faster fault detection and network management without requiring on-site personnel. Additionally, the implementation of a Location of Breakdowns and Restoration of Supply (LARS) system aims to enhance incident response through the integration of historical data, street work maps, and weather forecasts.
Furthermore, the Altamira project is spearheading the digitalisation of the low-voltage grid, facilitating the generation of critical information on power, voltage, energy losses, and loads impacting the grid, as well as detecting potential fraud. Additionally, Endesa is developing a network digital twin to model the grid, enable preventive maintenance, and enhance collaboration with field operators.
