David Hardy, Ørsted Americas’ chief executive and group executive vice president, will leave the company on November 30 to become the Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s wind division. Hardy will officially begin his new role on January 6, 2025.
In the interim, Ørsted's Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy CEO, Rasmus Errboe, will oversee the senior leadership team in the U.S. while a search for Hardy's successor is conducted.
During his five-year tenure, Hardy played a pivotal role in shaping Ørsted’s Region Americas strategy. Under his leadership:
- Ørsted completed and began operations at South Fork Wind, the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the U.S.
- Final investment decisions were made for Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind, adding a combined 1.7 GW of offshore wind capacity in the northeast U.S.
- The U.S. portfolio grew to nearly 11 GW in development, construction, or operation across wind, solar, and storage.
- Key industry milestones were achieved, including workforce development initiatives and partnerships with Kiewit and Edison Chouest Offshore to support U.S. supply chain localization.
Hardy expressed gratitude for his time at Ørsted, stating, "Together, we have measurably advanced a new and critical industry with many milestones, ranging from completing South Fork Wind to building new vessels and developing workforce programs that will support the industry for decades."
Ørsted CEO Mads Nipper commended Hardy for his contributions, highlighting his role in advancing Ørsted’s U.S. operations and driving significant industry milestones.
