3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG has inaugurated its second production site in Worb, Switzerland, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey. Spearheaded by Swiss solar pioneer Patrick Hofer-Noser, the team achieved the feat in just eleven months, with an investment exceeding 10 million CHF (11,5 million US$). The rapid setup underscores the company's commitment to innovation and expansion in the renewable energy sector.
The decision to establish the new facility was driven by the development of the next generation of 3S solar modules and the company's sustained growth trajectory. Dr. Patrick Hofer-Noser, Owner and CEO, emphasized the importance of maintaining Swiss-made quality and sustainability. He stated, "The highest quality, best service, sustainable solutions – this is what the Swiss location allows us to do and at the same time we have a very central location in Europe."
At the heart of the new production site lies the TeraSlate system, showcasing the latest in solar technology with the use of G12 cells, the largest solar cells currently available worldwide. These cells promise enhanced performance, efficiency, and aesthetics for 3S modules. The installation process was led by an interdisciplinary team of 3S employees and international partners, overcoming challenges in the complex supply chain and ensuring optimal manufacturing conditions.
The Worb facility not only signifies a leap forward in production capacity but also opens avenues for future growth and innovation. With a nominal capacity of 250 MW per year, the site paves the way for further advancements in solar technology. Moreover, plans are underway to utilize the location for company representative offices, training facilities, and educational offerings through the 3S Academy. The inauguration event, attended by esteemed guests including regional government representatives and industry leaders, marked a momentous occasion for 3S Swiss Solar Solutions AG as it continues to drive sustainable energy solutions forward.
