Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. has announced a USD 56 million investment under its new development strategy, Ganz 2030, aimed at significantly expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Hungary.
The core of the program is the construction of a new 6,500 sqm transformer plant in Tápiószele, expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The facility will nearly double Ganz’s transformer production capacity and includes upgrades to storage, logistics, material handling, and testing facilities.
Driven by the global rise in electrification and renewable energy needs, the project is designed to enhance operational flexibility while supporting sustainability goals. A larger 600 sqm unit will be designated for transformer refurbishment, enabling full lifecycle support. Two additional buildings will be converted into an insulation manufacturing facility.
According to Gergely Gál, Managing Director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines, the available expansion space in Tápiószele offers a strategic advantage. “Our goal is to create a manufacturing hub that supports the energy transition and electrification of industries,” he said.
The company will also create at least 200 new jobs by 2030 and has launched the Ganz Training Center to support workforce development with specialized education in transformer and electric rotating machine manufacturing.
The investment follows a USD 13 million technology upgrade earlier in 2024, further reinforcing Ganz’s role in Europe’s energy infrastructure sector.
