Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) has acquired a minority share in BSS Hochspannungstechnik GmbH (BSS), a company based in Sindelfingen, Germany, specializing in partial discharge (PD) monitoring and detection technologies. The transaction became effective on May 28, 2025.
The investment expands MR’s portfolio in the high-voltage monitoring sector, particularly in transformer and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) diagnostics. Partial discharge detection plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and reliability of electrical infrastructure, and the move is seen as a strategic step toward offering more comprehensive condition monitoring solutions.
Despite the change in ownership, Dr. Martin Siegel will continue to lead BSS as Managing Director. Under his guidance, the company will maintain its focus on advancing PD monitoring systems and strengthening its international market presence.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. However, industry observers note that the collaboration aligns with growing global demand for predictive maintenance technologies in energy systems.
